Ribbon Cutting- Trail Town Designation

Join us for a ribbon cutting to celebrate the Official Kick Off of the Trail Town Desingation for the Marietta Community!

The Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, along with community partners, invites residents and visitors to attend Marietta's IMBA Trail Town Designation Celebration & Recognition Ceremony on Friday, August 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the East Muskingum Park Gazebo, 401 Front Street, Marietta, Ohio.

The ceremony marks the official public celebration of Marietta's designation as an IMBA (International Mountain Bicycling Association) Trail Town, a prestigious recognition awarded to communities that demonstrate a commitment to developing and promoting mountain biking, outdoor recreation, and trail-based tourism.

Marietta is proud to be recognized as Ohio's only IMBA Trail Town, joining a select group of communities across the nation that have earned this distinction.

The public is invited to join local, regional, and state officials, community leaders, outdoor recreation partners, volunteers, and cycling enthusiasts as the community celebrates this significant milestone.

"This designation is much more than a title," said Deana Clark, Executive Director of the Marietta-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau. "It recognizes years of collaboration among the River Valley Mountain Bike Association, our local governments, Wayne National Forest, trail volunteers, businesses, and countless community partners. Their shared vision and commitment have positioned Marietta as a premier outdoor recreation destination, bringing new visitors, supporting local businesses, and strengthening our local economy."

The ceremony will include remarks from community leaders and special guests, recognition of the many partners who helped make the designation possible, and the official unveiling of Marietta as an IMBA Trail Town.

Held during the annual Rivers, Trails & Ales Festival, the celebration offers attendees the opportunity to experience firsthand the trails, scenic riverfront, historic downtown, and welcoming community that make Marietta a premier destination for outdoor adventure.

Following the ceremony, guests are encouraged to enjoy the festival, explore Marietta's trail systems, visit local businesses, and discover why the community has become a leader in outdoor recreation tourism.

The IMBA Trail Town designation is expected to increase Marietta's visibility among cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts while generating additional overnight stays, visitor spending, and economic impact throughout the region.

The event is free and open to the public.
