BB2C was founded as Building Bridges to Careers in Washington County, Ohio in 2012 by a dedicated group of education, community, and business leaders with the goal of creating a K-12 college and career readiness continuum. After assessing the level at which the community was working together to impact career readiness, the participating volunteers collaboratively built programs, events, and networks to address the gaps that were found. Job shadowing support, started by the Teen Career Awareness Initiative in 2008, provided a spring board for the expansion of programming, and today we have several different signature programs that bring our mission statement to life.
BB2C was incorporated in 2017. That same year, the BB2C Epicenter was was opened to serve the Mid-Ohio Valley. The BB2C Epicenter houses Washington County, Ohio’s first Small Business Incubator and Makerspace. The Epicenter provides a community space for hands on learning as well as support for economic development, entrepreneurship, and career-connected learning. Career-connected learning programs offered through the BB2C Epicenter are designed to engage community stakeholders in addressing the widespread gap between education and employment while supporting entrepreneurship efforts. Students, community members, retirees, and businesses are collaborating in this space in a way that has helped define our vision statement of successful students, strong businesses, and prosperous communities.
The goal of BB2C’s programs, events, and resources is to bridge the gap between education and employment.
