The DTE Marietta Cogen Facility is a natural gas fired facility designed to supply steam and electric power to Solvay. The plant is designed to provide continuous steam service. When the gas turbine generator is in operation continuous electric service will also be provided. The plant is also designed to provide black start service in the event of a loss of the electric utility connection. The cogen facility has a peak steam capacity of 150,000 LB/HR at 305psig . A gas turbine with an in line heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and duct burners is the primary steam generator. In the event of a gas turbine failure the HRSG is capable of fresh air firing to 100,000 LB/HR. Finally, in the event of a HRSG failure there are two 80,000 LB/HR package boilers that can be placed in service. The cogen facility has a nominal net electrical capacity of 7,100KW. Under expected cogeneration conditions and dependent on ambient weather conditions the gas turbine generator will supply 6,100-7,500kW of electric power to Solvay. The balance of the plant load will be supplied by the electric utility AEP.
